Suffering from Recession Depression?

I have to admit it's something Ive been struggling with for a while, the whole issue of job security (in my case none), the availability of new jobs, keeping up with bill payments etc.
Not to mention the doom and gloom spread by the media causing all of us to go into panic mode and in some cases over tightening our belts causing the situation to worsen.
Fortunately in my case I have no ties, family to provide for or mortgage to pay, just a lifestyle that I'm not willing to lose (selfish I know.)

Recently I have be dwelling on this fact that most if not all of my worries come from a lack of thankfulness and selfish tendencies. In a country literally flowing with milk and honey, a climate that is perfect for growing just about anything and a beautiful coastline you would think we would be an incredibly happy and appreciative nation.
But unfortunately we instead tend to dwell on that which we haven't got or that which a our neighbour or friend has - it seems the more we have the more we want and in the end the more we lack.

Times could and probably will get harder but in a lot of ways this could be a blessing in disguise, maybe society has got to the point where we need to brought to our knees. We are a have know pay later society with no restraint - who live in communities but have no sense of community. Often I have heard my grandparents talk of their communities and how they worked as a team, if someone was under pressure they would gather togeather and help out, where they would have social and sporting events in which the community as a whole would join in - where has this gone?

Anyway heres to hoping that things start improving in the economy and families don't have to suffer any longer, but also to stronger communities, new friendships, a thankfulness for all we have and a love for our neighbours.

D.I.Y Its in our blood.

Since being made redundant in December luckly just before christmas (convenient I guess due to the amazing weather and the fact that Im single and live at home so therefore don't have any ties) I have had plenty of time to do the many things I enjoy.
Two of those being landscaping and building. Im someone that always has plenty of ideas kicking around upstairs just waiting to be used, Ive used some of this time and a few of these ideas to do a bit of exterior D.I.Y. over the past few weeks.
Here are a couple of projects I have undertaken.

Entertaining area with macrocarpa bar and
stools brush stick lining to walls and river
stone to the floor.

The other end of the outdoor entertaining
area with tropical style gardens.

Picket fence and gate, trellis wall and door to end of carport.
River stone paths, driftwood garden edging.
